Installation

What the manufacturer has published about installing the PIV 100NA: the requirements and the operating sequence. Below that, our general guidance on where licensed trades are required. A step-by-step installation manual will be posted here when the manufacturer provides one.

Operating sequence

The manufacturer describes the installed system in four steps.

  1. Mount in attic

Place the compact unit in the attic space near existing soffit vents. No structural modifications required.

  2. Connect to power

Plug into a standard 120 V outlet. No special electrical work needed.

  3. Fresh air intake

The system draws outdoor air through the soffit vents (no roof penetration) and passes it through the MERV-8 filter.

  4. Pressurize home

Filtered air is gently pushed into the living spaces, forcing stale air out through natural gaps.

Where licensed trades are required

  • Electrical. The manufacturer specifies a standard 120 V outlet and says no special electrical work is needed. If the attic has no outlet, adding one is electrical work for a licensed electrician under the local electrical code and permit requirements.
  • HVAC. Nothing in the manufacturer's documentation connects Suntell to the home's heating and cooling system (no ductwork, no HVAC specialist needed). If a design does tie into existing HVAC ductwork or controls, that work belongs to a licensed HVAC contractor.
  • Permits and inspection. Whole-house mechanical ventilation is a code item. Check with the local building department whether a permit or inspection is needed, and confirm the required ventilation rate with the plan reviewer.

Until the manual is posted

Install to the requirements above and to local code. This page does not add steps to the manufacturer's description. The manufacturer reports a typical installation time of about 90 minutes (1 to 2 hours).

Before a job, ask on the support form for the latest manufacturer documentation and we will send what has been released.
